Nag-iisip ka ba ng lutuing meryenda ngayon? O di kaya naman ay pang-extra income habang nagtatrabaho ka sa opisina. Subukan mo ang pagluluto at pagbebenta ng ALMOND MERINGUE DESSERT.
Ito ang mga sangkap na kailangan:
Para Sa Meringue:
6 egg whites
12 oz. castor sugar
2 oz. flaked blanched almonds
Para Sa Palaman:
1 lb. fresh chestnuts plus few drops vanilla essence or use 1 can ( approximately 16 3/4 oz.)
unsweetened chestnut puree
2 oz. butter
2 oz. sieved icing sugar ( optional)
1/2 pint cream
1/2 oz. flaked blanched almonds
Ito ang paraan para gawin:
Cut out three rounds, approximately 7-8 inches to diameter of greaseproof paper. Oil each round very lightly and put out flat baking trays. Whisk the egg whites until very stiff then gradually whisk in half the sugar and fold in nearly all the remainder of the sugar. Pipe or spread the meringue over the oiled greaseproof paper to give neat rounds. Sprinkle with the flaked almonds and remaining sugar. Dry out the meringues for 2 1/2- 3 hours in a very slow oven, 224-250 F. Lift the meringue rounds off the trays while still warm. Carefully peel away the paper, then transfer to wire cooling trays. When cold, store in an airtight tin, separating the rounds with greaseproof paper.
To make the filling, slit the skin of the well-washed chestnuts and either simmer in water for nearly 10 minutes or roast in a hot oven for nearly 15 minutes. Remove both outer shells and brown skin while warm. Put the nuts into a pan with little water and vanilla essence and simmer until tender, then sieve. Blend the fresh or canned chestnut puree into the creamed butter ad sugar, if using.
Whip the cream until firm enough pipe. Spread the first round of meringue with half the chesnut puree, put on the second round and top with whipped cream. Add the third round of meringue and top this with the rest of the chestnut puree. Decorate with a piped border of cream and the almonds. Serve soon after preparing so the meringue does not soften. Serves 12.
